43 Cases in 2017, Only 20 Billion Won... 2500% Increase in the 7th Elected Term
[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] It has been revealed that Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has attracted various public contest projects worth 517.9 billion KRW this year.
According to the county on the 1st, the number of public contest projects, which was only 43 cases and 20 billion KRW at the launch of the 7th local government in 2017, increased by 2500% in project costs alone this year, securing more than 500 billion KRW in project funds.
The public contest projects attracted by Haenam-gun have grown every year: 49 cases worth 49.8 billion KRW in 2018, 67 cases worth 75.4 billion KRW in 2019, 103 cases worth 118.2 billion KRW in 2020, and 123 cases worth 517.9 billion KRW in 2021.
To overcome the poor local financial situation, the county reorganized its organization to form a Public Contest Project Team, concentrating its capabilities on selecting various public contest projects and establishing an organic cooperation system with departments and divisions.
Since then, the county has thoroughly planned projects from the preparation stage and systematically managed public contest projects overall.
The significant increase in the scale of public contest projects this year is the result of a series of large-scale projects being selected, including the attraction of the National Agricultural and Food Climate Change Response Center.
Notable achievements in the agricultural policy and distribution sectors include the Agricultural and Food Climate Change Response Center, with a total project cost of 407.9 billion KRW funded by the national government, a 10 billion KRW support project for vegetable shipment control facilities, 3.6 billion KRW for the establishment of the Haenam Sweet Potato Research Center, 3 billion KRW for the creation of the Haenam Sweet Potato Rural Convergence Complex Industrial Zone, and 1.8 billion KRW for the regional specialized forest creation project.
Additionally, a 10.5 billion KRW Living SOC Complex Project to build a small-scale gymnasium in Gugyo-ri and a Hwaseon-myeon Administrative Complex Center, a 4.1 billion KRW project to improve living conditions in vulnerable areas, a 2.5 billion KRW job creation project, an 8 billion KRW regional specialized lodging facility creation project, and a 2 billion KRW support project to expand the Dinosaur Museum Children's Science Experience Space were also selected.
In the environmental and economic sectors, achievements include a 10 billion KRW Smart Green City creation project, a 4 billion KRW traditional market facility modernization project, a 4.5 billion KRW renewable energy convergence support project, and 1.1 billion KRW for resident autonomy and social economy revitalization such as village communities.
Currently, there are 11 public contest projects under review, and the scale of selected projects is expected to increase further by the end of the year.
County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, “As a result of steadily strengthening our response capabilities to public contest projects since the launch of the 7th local government, this has become an opportunity to prepare long-term growth engines for the region. We will also start preparing for next year’s public contest projects early to create results that many residents can feel.”
