Operating for 11 years since 2011, Gokseong Premium Agriculture University aims to cultivate specialized farmers in regionally specialized crops. Until last year, it has produced 575 graduates across 15 courses. This year, a specialized horticulture expert training course was conducted with 29 participating farmers.
The education program consisted of a total of 24 sessions and 100 hours, starting with the entrance ceremony on April 9th, including in-depth theoretical education, advanced site visits, and on-site training at leading farms within the region.
In particular, the horticulture expert class was operated as a training course for specialized farmers in Gokseong-gun's major horticultural crops, melon and strawberry, receiving great responses from the trainees.
Meanwhile, the graduation ceremony included meaningful moments such as watching a memory video reviewing the past eight months of the education program, reporting on academic operations, and awarding five outstanding students and contributors who contributed to academic management and autonomous activities during the education period.
Yu Geun-gi, the president of Gokseong Premium Agriculture University and governor, congratulated, saying, “Despite your busy farming schedules, you devoted precious time and passion for learning, and I expect you to play a role as premium farmers leading the development of our county's agriculture.”
A Gokseong-gun official stated, “We plan to continuously operate Gokseong Premium Agriculture University based on an education system that can cultivate farmers with professional capabilities by conducting a demand survey for the 2022 education course selection.”
