[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Kwon Mina, a former member of the girl group AOA, has reported a sexual assault case that she claims happened during middle school, which is now under investigation by the prosecution.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency's Women and Juvenile Investigation Unit received Kwon's complaint and began an investigation. After proving the charges against a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, they transferred the case to the prosecution in early November on charges including rape and injury, the agency announced on the 1st.
The police added that although the crime occurred in 2007, they conducted a focused investigation on related parties at the time to establish the offense.
On the 1st, Kwon Mina posted on her Instagram, "Many friends, older sisters, and brothers helped with the damage that happened in Busan when I was in middle school, and I also recalled memories and submitted a lot of evidence, which led to a guilty verdict," adding, "The case has been transferred to the prosecution."
Kwon also said, "Now, I am waiting to see what kind of judgment will be made. I hope the appropriate punishment is given," and "I hope that no one else will ever suffer the same harm as I did."
In September, Kwon revealed that when she was in the first year of middle school, "I was sexually assaulted by a delinquent older boy at a place I followed my friend to, who said she was meeting a male student."
At that time, Kwon claimed, "I was hit all over my face and body with a beer bottle for over four hours, unable to walk, and although it felt like a sewer, the perpetrator bragged about the crime."
