[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Kakao Entertainment announced on the 1st that it has launched the 'Melon Chart Advisory Committee,' an advisory body composed of external experts, to establish a fair chart service policy for its music platform Melon.

The advisory committee was formed based on recommendations from expert groups across various fields. The final appointed advisory members are Professor Kim Min-yong of Kyung Hee University's Department of Business Administration, Professor Jung Jin-geun of Kangwon National University's Law School, Jung Hoon, Director of the Business Department at the Korea Music Performers' Union, Choi Kwang-ho, Secretary General of the Korea Music Content Association, and Hwang Shin, Head of the Social Value Promotion Division at the Korea Creative Content Agency, totaling five members.

The advisory committee will serve as a key advisory body in establishing Melon Chart policies. To this end, it plans to build an organic cooperative relationship with the Melon Chart operations and music policy departments within Kakao Entertainment.

Kakao Entertainment intends to reflect the outcomes derived from discussions with the advisory committee into chart policies and to transparently disclose the advisory committee's result reports externally.

Lee Jae-wook, Head of Kakao Entertainment's Melon Division, stated, "We expect that the professional and objective advice from external experts will further elevate chart operations and policies," adding, "We will actively accept feedback from the advisory committee and do our best to ensure that Melon Chart continues to be trusted as Korea's representative chart."
