[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jonghwa] 'Moorim,' a comprehensive pulp, paper, and new materials company, announced on the 1st that it has partnered with global cosmetics research and development (R&D) specialist 'KOLMAR Korea' to develop an eco-friendly packaging paper called 'NeoCCP R30,' which will be applied to cosmetic packaging materials.
The NeoCCP R30, jointly developed by the two companies, is a product that enhances eco-friendliness by incorporating recycled raw materials into Moorim's premium packaging paper 'NeoCCP.' By mixing recycled pulp made from discarded paper, it increases resource recyclability during production and minimizes unnecessary waste. Therefore, NeoCCP R30 adds the eco-friendly label of 'resource-circulating product' to its title as a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper.
Moorim and KOLMAR Korea unveiled a practically applicable packaging material about four months after signing a 'Strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Development of Eco-friendly Cosmetic Packaging Materials and Raw Materials' on July 6.
This packaging launch holds even greater significance as the first tangible result of collaboration between leading companies in the beauty and paper industries amid ongoing MOUs and R&D efforts across various sectors to develop eco-friendly products under the ESG management framework. The two companies plan to provide consumers with 'clean beauty' products that are environmentally friendly even in packaging by accurately labeling the eco-friendly information on product packages using this paper.
For packaging paper, high strength and excellent color reproduction are paramount. Based on its unrivaled technology in this field, Moorim maximized the existing print quality despite using recycled pulp. Moorim expects a continuous influx of love calls for this new product from various industries thirsty for environmentally friendly products.
Ryu Singyu, Head of Sales at Moorim, said, "As the eco-friendliness of paper gains attention, more corporate customers are seeking related products. As an industry-leading company, we will strive to present the right paper products."
Meanwhile, Moorim and KOLMAR Korea plan to accelerate R&D to apply 'nanocellulose,' a natural material derived from pulp produced by Moorim, to cosmetic manufacturing raw materials, spearheaded by this eco-friendly paper package development.
