[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul was tentatively counted at 1,080 during the 18-hour period from midnight to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, the 30th.

Compared to the same time frame, this is an increase of 349 cases from the previous day (29th), which had 731 cases, and 5 cases fewer than one week ago (23rd), which had 1,085 cases. The total number of cases for the entire day was 1,186 on the 29th and 1,734 on the 23rd. As of 6 p.m. on the 30th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul stands at 155,366.

The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul surged from the 400-700 range in the last week of last month to 1,004 on the 2nd of this month, then set new all-time high records four times this month alone: 1,436 on the 16th, 1,734 on the 23rd, 1,760 on the 24th, and 1,888 on the 26th. Additionally, from the 13th to the 29th of this month, Seoul has continuously broken daily record highs for 17 consecutive days. Notably, on the 29th, the number of tests conducted reached a record high of 127,196, the largest ever in a single day, suggesting that the number of confirmed cases on the 30th, reflecting these test results, may increase significantly.

The final tally of total confirmed cases for the day will be compiled as of midnight on December 1st and announced in the morning.
