[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) held a graduation ceremony and networking event after conducting the ‘Namwon City Customized Meal Kit Startup Support Project’ training, promoted in collaboration with the International Korean Food Culture Foundation on the 29th, achieving the result of 9 graduates starting their own businesses.
According to the city on the 30th, the startup training, which was carried out from May to early this month, was a project selected by the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s public contest, aimed at further developing Namwon’s agricultural and food industry.
Additionally, as a ‘Customized Meal Kit Startup Specialized Training’ responding to the growth of the meal kit industry and changes in consumer trends, the training aimed to reduce management skill shortages and startup failures experienced during entrepreneurship, foster successful startups, and achieve two goals: revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs through startups.
Over the past two years, the city has produced 22 entrepreneurs through startup training in ‘Kimbugak’ and ‘Home Meal Replacements,’ and this year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, 11 people completed the training and 9 started businesses, achieving their goals.
Participants expressed, “This training covered content we had always wanted to learn for starting a business, and we are very grateful to Namwon City and the International Korean Food Culture Foundation for giving us this opportunity,” adding, “We attended every class diligently and want to succeed in starting a business based on what we learned.”
Mayor Lee Hwan-joo said, “I am pleased to be able to conduct a local startup training course during a difficult time when small business owners are facing many hardships due to COVID-19 and all face-to-face activities are challenging,” and added, “I sincerely hope the businesses succeed and prosper.”
