Gwangju Economic and Employment Promotion Agency Participates in the '2021 Bitgoeul Love Sharing Kimchi-Making Contest'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Metropolitan City Economic and Employment Promotion Agency (Chairman Na Seong-hwa) announced on the 30th that it participated in the ‘2021 Bitgoeul Love Sharing Kimchi Making Contest’ as an activity to realize social value.

The year-end and New Year event for the underprivileged was held on the 29th at the Gwangju Kimchi Town Multipurpose Experience Center, and the three organizations, Gwangju Economic and Employment Promotion Agency Foundation, Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation, and Gwangju Urban Corporation, jointly participated, with about 80 employees strictly adhering to COVID-19 quarantine guidelines.

Before the event started, Na Seong-hwa, Chairman of the Gwangju Economic and Employment Promotion Agency, said, “I am very pleased to participate in the kimchi-making event registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Through ‘Make and Sharing,’ making kimchi and sharing it with the underprivileged, we will take the lead in creating a new culture of sharing in Gwangju.”

The event provided an opportunity to help local small business owners and producers by making kimchi using raw and subsidiary materials produced by local small business owners amid the national crisis of COVID-19 and donating it to the underprivileged. The Promotion Agency donated 100kg of kimchi to the nonprofit organization Jabisinhaenghoe. This kimchi will be delivered to elderly and children in need during the cold winter season.

In addition to this event, the Promotion Agency is continuously carrying out volunteer activities for the local community, such as the ‘Blood Donation Relay for Life Sharing’ and ‘Gwangjucheon Stream Environmental Cleanup Activities,’ taking the lead in fulfilling social responsibility as public institution employees.
