Support for 312kW ESS Facility at Deokjeok Elementary, Middle, and High Schools on Deokjeokdo
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] LG Energy Solution has taken the lead in supplying solar power-linked energy storage systems (ESS) to schools in island areas.
On the 30th, LG Energy Solution announced that it signed a business agreement for the 'Solar Power Supply and Scholarship Support Project in Island Areas' with 10 organizations including Incheon Port Authority, Incheon Metropolitan City, and Korea Electric Power Corporation.
According to this business agreement, the organizations will install a 60kW-class solar power generation facility and a 312kW-class ESS facility in the buildings of Deokjeok Elementary, Middle, and High Schools located on Deokjeok Island, Ongjin-gun, Incheon, an island area.
LG Energy Solution will support the ESS equipment and installation costs, and the solar power plant is scheduled to be fully operational from the first quarter of next year.
This project focuses on replacing unstable electricity supply in island areas with stable eco-friendly electricity to provide students with a comfortable educational environment and offer opportunities to learn the importance of the environment. Additionally, profits obtained through carbon emission rights will be used to create a school development fund for scholarship projects.
In the case of the solar power plant to be installed this time, assuming 25 years of use, it is expected to achieve a total effect of more than 500 million KRW, including electricity bill savings and carbon emission rights worth about 390 million KRW, and crude oil import substitution worth about 130 million KRW.
Furthermore, it is expected to gain benefits of more than 40 million KRW annually in improving air quality in island areas.
