Selection of Meritorious Institutions and Investigators, Honors Including Minister of Economy and Finance Award and Statistics Korea Commissioner Award
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held an awards ceremony on the 29th to honor those who contributed to the large-scale statistical surveys in 2021.
This award, organized by the Statistics Korea, is the 'Large-scale Statistical Survey Service Merit Award' given to local governments, public officials, and survey personnel who contributed to the large-scale statistical surveys conducted every five years, including the 2020 Population and Housing Census, the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Census, and the 2021 Economic Census. Hapcheon-gun was selected in the institutional merit category and received a commendation from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance.
In the individual category, 12 people (3 public officials and 8 private survey personnel) who dedicated themselves to conducting the statistical surveys received commendations from the Minister of Strategy and Finance and the Commissioner of Statistics Korea.
Especially this year, despite the difficulties of face-to-face surveys amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Hapcheon-gun achieved remarkable success by actively promoting to minimize survey non-response and conducting systematic surveys together with survey personnel, earning the Minister of Strategy and Finance Award and the Commissioner of Statistics Korea Award for their contribution to the development of national statistics.
County Governor Moon Jun-hee said, “I am grateful for the hard work and sacrifice of the staff and survey personnel who strived to achieve the goal of ensuring the safety of residents and producing accurate statistical data despite the difficult circumstances caused by the spread of COVID-19. I also thank the residents who actively cooperated.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to produce and utilize statistical data that form the foundation for county policy-making.”
