Gathering Opinions to Promote the Publishing Culture Industry


The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency and the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, will livestream the "5th Public Hearing for Establishing the 5th Publication Culture Industry Promotion Plan" online on the 2nd of next month. The event is organized to present the research results conducted so far for establishing the 5th Publication Culture Industry Promotion Plan and to gather diverse opinions from related industries and the public.


Researcher Kim Gyu-chan from the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute and Professor Lee Seong-min from the Media and Video Department at Korea National Open University will present the main contents. Following this, the discussion panel will include Lee Gu-yong, CEO of KL Management; Lee Eun-ho, Vice President of the Korea Electronic Publishing Society; Jeong Won-ok, Senior Researcher at the Reading Policy Research Institute of the Korea Publishing Culture Association; and Hong Young-wan, Policy Chairman of the Korea Publishers Association.


At this public hearing, the 5th plan (draft) will be presented under the goal of "Culture nurtured by books, publishing industry growing through culture," featuring 4 strategies and 12 promotion tasks. Key tasks include expanding demand diversity, strengthening the competitiveness of local bookstores, establishing a training system for publishing professionals, and revising laws and systems to promote the publishing industry.
