[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held the 'Jang(mi)han(songi) Festival' to celebrate the completion of the Senior Culture Center and Somang Children's Park in Jangmi Village, Muk 2-dong, where the urban regeneration revitalization project is in full swing.
The Senior Culture Center (Muk-dong 237-50), which held its opening ceremony on the 26th, is the first community facility completed using the Muk 2-dong urban regeneration project funds. The existing Hanyang Senior Citizens' Center building was demolished, and construction began in October last year to build a new structure from basement level 1 to the 4th floor above ground.
From the 1st to the 2nd floor above ground, in addition to the existing senior citizens' center space, a multipurpose room for cultural programs has been established on basement level 1, a shared kitchen on the 3rd floor, and a greenhouse garden on the 4th floor, creating a diverse cultural enjoyment space for seniors.
Somang Children's Park (Muk-dong 240-100), located near the Culture Center, is also an eco-friendly creative playground created as part of the urban regeneration project. A roof structure was installed over the outdoor playground equipment so that children can play even on rainy or hot sunny days. Additionally, an indoor playground and exercise equipment for young toddlers were installed, allowing the whole family to enjoy the space.
During the Janghan Festival held from the 26th to the 27th, residents could celebrate the completion of the Culture Center and Children's Park together through one-day classes, a rose photo zone, family experience programs, and leaving congratulatory messages.
In particular, the festival attracted attention by exhibiting the achievements of residents from the urban regeneration resident contest project and selling items made directly by residents, such as cutting boards and rose eco-bags.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope the Senior Culture Center and Somang Children's Park become vibrant spaces for the residents of Muk 2-dong,” and added, “The Janghan Festival, created by residents and the village festival planning team, utilizing the characteristic of Jangmi Village, will become a unique local attraction every year.”
The Muk 2-dong urban regeneration revitalization project was selected as a New Deal project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2018 and will promote a total of 51 urban regeneration projects by next year.
Along with community facilities such as the village management office, family library, and youth culture development center, the project plans to provide residents with a pleasant environment through the creation of the Rose Flower Light Street and other initiatives.
