[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] On the 28th, a derailment accident occurred on the monorail at Yokjido, Tongyeong-si, Gyeongnam, resulting in 8 passengers sustaining various injuries and being rescued and transported to a hospital.

According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, at 2:01 PM on the same day, the monorail at the Yokjido Island Monorail station in Danghang-ri, Yokji-myeon, Tongyeong-si, derailed while entering the station and fell toward a nearby structure.

The 119 Rescue Team Yokji Branch was dispatched after receiving the report and arrived at the scene at 2:11 PM, 10 minutes later, to carry out rescue operations.

All 8 passengers were rescued and transported by helicopter to a nearby mainland hospital for treatment.

A Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters official stated, "We understand that the rescued patients are currently not in life-threatening condition," and added, "The exact cause of the accident is under investigation."
