Jokgu and Gateball, Only Busan Hosts This Year's Sports for All Competition... Expressing Hope for the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The 32nd Busan Citizens Sports Festival, a festival for amateur sports enthusiasts including Jokgu and Gateball, was held on the 27th at six venues across the city, including the Busan Asiad Main Stadium.

A total of 1,240 participants competed in six events: Gateball, Ground Golf, Jokgu, Soccer, Tennis, and Park Golf.

The amateur sports competition, which was suspended last year due to COVID-19, was held only in Busan nationwide this year. It carried the hope of attracting the 2030 Busan World Expo.

The event was held without spectators as a principle, and only those who verified their vaccine pass participated in the competition.

Jang In-hwa, president of the Busan Sports Council, said, “As this is a competition held with difficulty after two years, I hope it will be an opportunity to revitalize amateur athletes.”
