[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] Woori Financial Group has launched a 'platform' business to secure future customers as its first step toward complete privatization.
On the 28th, Woori Financial announced that it will hold a Digital Innovation Committee involving executives and MZ generation employees to promote the establishment of an 'MZ-specialized platform.'
The 'MZ-specialized platform' will be developed as a tech company based on a completely new system and organizational culture, different from existing financial platforms. Reflecting the trend of the MZ generation's growing interest in investing in various assets such as stocks, real estate, and virtual assets, it will start as a wealth tech platform specialized in investment support, linked to Woori Financial Group's future plans to expand its securities division.
To successfully promote the business, Woori Financial has also formed a task force team (TFT) centered on MZ generation employees to freely propose and test ideas. Experts in artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, UX/UI, and others have been appointed as advisory members to develop differentiated solutions.
The group plans to establish a 200 billion KRW corporate venture capital (CVC) fund involving major group companies to actively invest in fintech firms through equity investments and joint ventures (JV), strengthening network-based partnerships.
Son Tae-seung, Chairman of Woori Financial Group, emphasized, "Since the MZ generation accounts for 60% of the working-age population by 2030, the future of Woori Financial Group depends on MZ generation customers," adding, "Based on the success of complete privatization, we will create a new digital future unique to Woori Financial and become a game changer."
