[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon Presidents Forum, consisting of 11 universities with campuses in Incheon, signed a win-win cooperation agreement with Incheon City on the 25th to promote regional development and nurture future talents.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Park Namchun, Jo Myungwoo, Chairman of the Incheon Presidents Forum, Kang Wonmo, Vice Chairman of the Incheon City Council, local members of the National Assembly, and representatives from each university.
According to the agreement, both parties will collaborate on ▲ developing programs for the mutual development of local communities and universities ▲ jointly nurturing key talents for regional innovation growth ▲ reestablishing regional identity ▲ activating exchanges of information, academic resources, and infrastructure.
Mayor Park Namchun stated, "Although we have been actively conducting cooperative projects with universities in areas such as bio-health, aviation, and youth startups, we will strengthen our relationships by establishing a cooperative system involving all local universities," and added, "Through data sharing with universities, we will further cooperate in various new growth industries such as digital innovation, robotics, hydrogen, bio, and youth startups."
Jo Myungwoo, Chairman of the Incheon Presidents Forum, said, "Taking this agreement as an opportunity, we will build a close network between the 11 member universities and Incheon City to respond swiftly to the changing educational paradigm and gather wisdom to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the local community."
The Incheon Presidents Forum is a council formed in July by the presidents of 11 universities with campuses in Incheon to establish the identity of regional universities and promote cooperation with the local community.
Participating universities include Gachon University, Gyeongin National University of Education, Gyeongin Women's College, Yonsei University, Incheon Catholic University, University of Incheon, Incheon Jaeneung College, Inha Technical College, Inha University, Cheongwoon University, and Korea Polytechnics II.
