[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Kang Yongseok, a lawyer affiliated with the conservative YouTube channel 'Garosero Research Institute' (Gaseyeon), claimed that former Democratic Party lawmaker Geum Tae-seop mediated a meeting between Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung, former People Power Party emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in, and former Democratic Research Institute director Yang Jeong-cheol. However, former lawmaker Geum immediately denied this, saying, "This is not true."

On the 25th, former lawmaker Geum wrote on his Facebook, "Suddenly, I received a flood of calls from reporters in the morning, so I wondered what was going on. It turned out that Lawyer Kang posted something like this, so I conducted a fact check," adding, "What Lawyer Kang said is not true."

He continued, "I have not been in contact with candidate Lee Jae-myung or former secretary Yang Jeong-cheol for years. There was no similar (meeting) either," and said, "I have some idea why such a story is being told, but I will not talk about it."

He also said, "You don't have to believe what Lawyer Kang says. There are people like this in every camp," and pointed out, "In other words, he is like Jeong Cheong-rae in the conservative camp."

On the same day, Lawyer Kang posted on Facebook, "On the evening of the 23rd at 10 p.m. in Suwon, I received a tip that candidate Lee, former chairman Kim, and former director Yang met through former lawmaker Geum's mediation."

He added, "The intention of Lee Jae-myung and Yang Jeong-cheol is to shake Yoon Seok-youl's campaign headquarters," and claimed, "What on earth is Grandpa Kim Jong-in thinking? Yoon, who has to deal with this elusive old fox of the political arena, must be very tired."

Meanwhile, People Power Party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-youl held a surprise meeting with former chairman Kim on the previous day (24th). The two discussed the composition of the People Power Party's election campaign committee (campaign headquarters) during this meeting, but it is reported that they did not reach a clear conclusion regarding Kim's participation in the campaign headquarters.
