'Galaxy S22 Ultra' Camera, Same Megapixels but Enhanced Sensor

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] Observations are emerging regarding the detailed camera specifications of Samsung Electronics' next-generation flagship smartphone, the 'Galaxy S22,' specifically its top-tier model, the 'Galaxy S22 Ultra.'

On the 24th (local time), IT specialist media PhoneArena, citing the well-known IT tipster Ice Universe, revealed the expected camera specs of the S22 Ultra.

The S22 Ultra is expected to feature cameras with the same pixel count as its predecessor, the 'Galaxy S21 Ultra,' but with enhanced sensor capabilities. According to Ice Universe, the rear cameras of the S22 will likely include ▲180MP main ▲12MP ultra-wide ▲10MP telephoto ▲10MP periscope lenses.

The main camera is expected to have the same pixel count as the previous model but will be equipped with an improved sensor. It is anticipated to feature Samsung's image sensor 'ISOCELL HM3,' released in January this year. Ice Universe added that the improved sensor will be characterized by enhanced detail mode. Additionally, the 10MP telephoto camera is expected to incorporate a new Sony sensor, while the 12MP ultra-wide camera will likely use the same model as its predecessor.

A distinctive feature of the S22 Ultra is the inclusion of a dedicated slot for housing the S Pen. This year, no new Note series model was released, which disappointed many consumers. In this context, if the S22 Ultra model actively adopts the characteristics of the Note series, it is expected to effectively serve as the successor to the Note series.

The S22 series is expected to be offered in three models?standard, Plus, and Ultra?similar to its predecessor, with the application processor (AP) being either Samsung's Exynos 2200 or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 898 chipset.

All three models will feature AMOLED displays supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, maintaining a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Furthermore, the S22 is expected to have a 6.1-inch screen, the S22+ a 6.5-inch screen, and the S22 Ultra a 6.8-inch screen.

The S22 series is anticipated to be unveiled at an Unpacked event on February 8 next year and released on the 18th of the same month.
