'Guryongpo Gwamegi' Also Available for Order Sale
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] GS Retail's convenience store GS25 announced on the 24th that it has launched a lunchbox product called 'Beolgyo Saekkocmak Bibimbap,' which uses cockles, a winter seasonal ingredient.
GS25 has significantly diversified its lunchbox offerings by expanding the range of ingredients traditionally used in convenience store foods such as meat, tuna, and ham to include seasonal seafood as part of its efforts to strengthen differentiated food products.
Beolgyo Saekkocmak Bibimbap features bibimbap seasoned with a special soy sauce marinade topped with plump Beolgyo cockles in season. For customers who prefer a spicier or nuttier flavor, cheongyang chili peppers, seaweed flakes, and sesame oil are separately included so they can be added according to taste. The price is 4,300 won.
Along with Beolgyo Saekkocmak Bibimbap, GS25 is also offering Gwamegi, another winter delicacy, through a pre-order sales method. The product set includes Guryongpo Gwamegi, made by drying fresh mackerel pike with sea breeze, seasoned seaweed, chojang (vinegar red pepper paste), and vegetables.
Considering various demands such as a meal, drinking snacks, or year-end home party menus, three sets with different quantities are sold: 'Guryongpo Gwamegi 60g Set,' 'Guryongpo Gwamegi 4-piece Set,' and 'Gwamegi 10-piece Set,' priced between 5,900 and 33,000 won.
Moon Ji-won, GS Retail's lunchbox MD, said, "We introduced differentiated food products using seasonal ingredients to meet the rising customer expectations for convenience store foods," adding, "We plan to launch a series of seasonal foods throughout the year."
