[Asia Economy Reporter Kim So-young] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, advised Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, to "stay away from shamans. Because it is truly dangerous." This is interpreted as a critique of Yoon's past controversies involving the 'Palm King (王)' and 'Cheongong Master.'
On the afternoon of the 23rd, in an interview with YTN, when asked about Yoon's weaknesses, Lee responded, "I thought it would be good to study under a good teacher. National governance should be based on objective facts and decisions made through rational judgment; deciding by flipping a coin would be a disaster. Did I speak too harshly?"
Regarding Yoon's strengths, he said, "His strength lies in the public's expectation that he will be fair," adding, "I have spent my life striving for a fair society and believe I have implemented it through city and provincial administration, but when asked who seems more fair, Yoon Seok-yeol came out higher."
He continued, "I think there is some discrepancy with reality, but the public sees it differently. It seems that a judgment sentiment against the current administration is at work."
Regarding his past comment that Yoon was "well-packaged but the content needs to be examined," he said, "It seems the shortcomings are now being revealed. I feel a bit awkward continuing to talk about him, but I made that comment when he retired from the Prosecutor General position. National governance is not that simple. The criminal justice field is only a very small part among the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. So I said it would be good to study a lot about national governance, and he said he would study hard."
