[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The Jeonnam Province Children's Meal Management Support Center, entrusted to be operated by the Department of Food and Nutrition at Dongshin University, announced on the 23rd that it has conducted the 'Na (Sodium) Down Project - Salinity Meter Support Program' for eight months since last April to manage salt levels and reduce sodium in children's meal services.
The project involved 20 meal service centers registered as members of the center, who voluntarily measured salt levels and maintained management logs.
The center evaluated the implementation efforts and appropriate salt levels, selected four outstanding facilities for awards, and provided hygiene support supplies.
No Hee-kyung, the center director (Professor of Food and Nutrition at Dongshin University), stated, "During infancy and early childhood, when taste preferences are formed, it is important to reduce sodium intake and develop low-sodium eating habits to consume proper nutrients." She added, "We will continue to support various programs to help children develop healthy eating habits and improve their health."
