LH Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters, Full-Scale Promotion of Happy Housing Construction in Damyang-eup

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] LH Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters (Head Lee Jae-ro) signed a 'Basic Joint Project Agreement for the Promotion of Damyang-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal Project' with Damyang-gun, Jeonnam (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) on the 22nd and will actively promote the construction project of Happy Housing.

LH announced that it has signed a basic joint project implementation agreement with Damyang-gun to ensure the smooth promotion and division of tasks for the construction project of Happy Housing, which is a core project of the Damyang Jungang-ro area Urban Regeneration New Deal Project (contest name: Designing a New Millennium with Cultural Ecology Road) selected in 2019 and led by Damyang-gun.

The Damyang Jungang-ro area was once the administrative, economic, and transportation center of Damyang-gun, but with the relocation of the Damyang Public Terminal and the shift of commercial districts, population outflow has continued, leading to ongoing aging of the area. Additionally, tourists concentrated in ecological tourist spots such as Juknokwon and Meta Provence are accelerating the decline of the commercial district within the old downtown area.

Accordingly, the two organizations plan to revitalize the declining Jungang-ro area through the 'Damyang-eup Happy Housing Construction Project' by investing 8.3 billion KRW in a site of approximately 1,800㎡ in Jichim-ri, Damyang-eup, Damyang-gun, Jeonnam, to construct 40 units of Happy Housing starting from December next year.

According to the agreement, Damyang-gun will perform administrative support for permits, provide the project site free of charge, and assist in tenant selection, while LH will be responsible for permit processing, investment of project funds, design, construction, operation, and management.

LH Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters stated, “We plan to proceed without delay through cooperation with Damyang-gun to promptly commence the Damyang-eup Happy Housing project,” and added, “We expect this to restore vitality to the old downtown area of Jichim-ri, where living infrastructure is aging due to population decline.”
