aT Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters "Kimjang Season, Rising Trend Due to Increased Demand for Cabbage and Minari"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] aT Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters (Head Choi Joo-hwan) published issue 2122 of the Gwangju Jeonnam agricultural products newsletter 'Eolmayo' to help local consumers shop economically for agricultural products.

According to 'Eolmayo,' among vegetables, water parsley showed an upward trend due to increased demand during the kimchi-making season.

On the other hand, dried chili peppers, which are being shipped from storage, showed a downward trend due to smooth supply from increased production thanks to favorable crop conditions, and other vegetables such as lettuce also showed a downward trend due to decreased dining-out demand caused by COVID-19.

Among fruits, pears showed a decline in ritual use demand as the season passed, but an upward trend due to shipment control at production sites. Other fruits showed a stable trend without significant changes due to consumption dispersion caused by the shipment of various fresh fruits such as strawberries.

An aT official stated the outlook for the next two weeks: "With the full onset of the kimchi-making season, consumption of kimchi-related items such as napa cabbage and radish will be active. However, napa cabbage supply conditions are expected to improve as shipments from the southern region with favorable crop conditions begin in earnest, so additional price increases are unlikely to be significant. Radish is expected to remain stable due to favorable crop conditions and smooth shipments."
