[AKYUNG Poll] Over Half of the People Want a Regime Change to the People Power Party

People Power Party Regime Change 50.7% vs Democratic Party Regime Continuation 34.3%

[AKYUNG Poll] Over Half of the People Want a Regime Change to the People Power Party

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] According to a survey on preferred forces for the next presidential election, more than half of the people want a regime change to the People Power Party.

On the 23rd, Asia Economy commissioned Win-G Korea Consulting to conduct a public opinion survey (100% mobile phone virtual numbers, automated response) targeting 1,025 voters aged 18 and older nationwide from the 20th to 21st. When asked about their preferred force for the next presidential election, 50.7% expressed a desire for a regime change to the People Power Party. In contrast, 34.3% wanted the Democratic Party to retain power. This showed little difference from the previous survey conducted on the 6th to 7th.

This appears to be influenced by the recent convention effect following the selection of the People Power Party candidate and the aftermath of the Daejang-dong preferential treatment allegations.

Responses favoring other parties or independent candidates accounted for 8.9%, while 6.1% responded that they did not know.

By gender, both men and women predominantly favored a regime change to the People Power Party, and by age group, all age groups except those in their 40s showed higher support for regime change.

By region, except for the Honam area (57% favoring the Democratic Party’s retention of power, 25.3% favoring regime change), all other regions showed higher support for a regime change to the People Power Party.

Among respondents who positively evaluated the president’s performance, 78.2% wanted the Democratic Party to retain power, while among those who evaluated it negatively, 82.6% wanted a regime change to the People Power Party.

Additionally, 95% of supporters of Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party presidential candidate, wanted a regime change to the People Power Party, and 87% of supporters of Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, wanted the Democratic Party to retain power.

This survey was conducted by Asia Economy through Win-G Korea Consulting from the 20th to 21st targeting voters aged 18 and older nationwide, with 1,025 respondents and an overall response rate of 7.5%. The survey method was wireless ARS using 100% mobile phone virtual numbers, and the sample was extracted with weighted values by gender, age, and region based on the resident registration population as of the end of January 2021 from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (cell weighting). The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
