Hyundai Motor Donates 'Mobile Health Medical Bus' for Underprivileged in Busan

[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 23rd that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Community Chest of Korea to promote a visiting health care service.

The signing ceremony, held online the day before, was attended by Jiyoung Jo, President of Innovation at Hyundai Motor Group, Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, Choi Geum-sik, Chairman of the Busan Community Chest of Korea, and other project officials.

Hyundai Motor, Busan City, and the Busan Community Chest of Korea will conduct home visits and medical examinations for patients with mobility difficulties and vulnerable groups due to illness from March to December next year, a period of 10 months, to provide smooth medical services.

Hyundai Motor will donate an eco-friendly electric bus equipped with professional diagnostic equipment to the Busan Community Chest.

Busan City will hold a public contest for medical institutions in the Busan area and, together with the selected medical institutions, will visit and examine elderly day care centers and residences of those with mobility difficulties. The Busan Community Chest will allocate the bus provided by Hyundai Motor to the medical institutions.

President Jiyoung Jo said, “Through this MOU, by supporting Hyundai Motor’s vehicles and technology, we expect to provide smooth medical services to medically marginalized groups who have difficulty visiting hospitals,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts for neighbors in blind spots of medical services in the future.”

Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “We thank Hyundai Motor and the Busan Community Chest of Korea for their great support to vulnerable groups going through difficult times, and we hope that the visiting health care service project will proceed smoothly starting with this agreement.”
