World No. 2 Ko Jin-young (26) narrowed the gap with No. 1 Nelly Korda (USA, 10.07 points) by earning 9.94 points in the weekly women's golf world rankings officially announced on the morning of the 23rd (Korean time). She accumulated points by winning the final event of the 2021 LPGA Tour, the CME Group Tour Championship (total prize money $5 million), held at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida (par 72, 6,556 yards), by one stroke with a 23-under 265 score.
With this title defense, she secured her fifth win of the season. She became the first Korean player to be the 'money queen' for three consecutive years, was named Player of the Year for the first time in two years since 2019, and swept various individual titles including the CME Globe Race and the 'Leaders Top 10' No. 1. Since this year's schedule has ended, no ranking changes are expected until the next season opens in January next year. Four Koreans made it into the 'Top 10': Park In-bee (33, KB Financial Group) at 3rd, Kim Se-young (28, Mediheal) at 4th, and Kim Hyo-joo (26, Lotte) at 9th.
