[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Foods announced on the 23rd that it donated approximately 17.3 million KRW, raised through the 2021 Salary Change Collection Campaign, to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation for the treatment of pediatric cancer patients.
The donation amount of 17,348,939 KRW was created by combining about 8.67 million KRW collected from employees throughout 2021 and an equal amount contributed by the company. This fund will be used for the treatment expenses of children diagnosed with pediatric cancer and rare incurable diseases. Marking its 5th year, the total donations from Lotte Foods employees have reached approximately 79 million KRW.
Lotte Foods started the "Employee Change Collection Campaign" in August 2016 to share warmth with neighbors. Employees who wished to donate had their salary change under 1,000 KRW collected to accumulate donation funds, and the company matched the employees' contributions with the same amount to form the fund. Since 2017, annual year-end donations have been made for pediatric cancer patients, resulting in treatment support for a total of 10 children as of 2021.
At the donation ceremony, Jinseong Lee, CEO of Lotte Foods, said, "I am pleased to share the warm hearts of our employees with society," and added, "We will continue to strive to become a company that can share the love we have received with more neighbors."
