Maintenance of aging equipment, securing snow removal materials, installation of snow removal agent storage boxes for preemptive preparedness... Strengthening initial snow removal response with brine spraying devices and heating wires in vulnerable areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) will operate a snow removal task force situation room for four months until mid-March next year to minimize residents' inconvenience through rapid snow removal work this winter.
The district established the snow removal task force headquarters at the CCTV integrated control center on the 15th and began full-scale operations.
For this snow removal plan, 3,883 personnel have been mobilized, and 68 snow removal equipment units of seven types, including road management vehicles, water spraying trucks, and spreaders, have been prepared. One calcium chloride spreader has been allocated to each of the 16 neighborhood community centers to work on major roads and residential areas during snowfall. Additionally, 47 private snow removal equipment units, such as dump trucks and excavators, are ready for immediate deployment in case of heavy snow.
Moreover, 1,318 tons of snow removal materials, including 507 tons of calcium chloride, 489 tons of salt, and 322 tons of eco-friendly snow removal agents, have been secured, and snow removal material storage boxes have been installed at 77 vulnerable points such as major roads, mountain passes, and pedestrian overpasses. The district plans to secure a total of 1,643 tons of snow removal materials by next year.
In addition, 259 locations including steep slopes, highlands, and general residences have been selected as snow removal material storage houses to keep materials on hand at all times. Forty-six tons of snow removal materials are being pre-distributed to 154 apartment complexes in the area to prepare for possible heavy snowfall.
Especially, fixed automatic brine spraying devices have been installed on the 680m Manguri Pass and 1,000m Saeugae Pass, which are vulnerable snow removal sections, and road heating cables have been installed on the 225m sections around Yongma Park-ro 10ga-gil and Dalgongsan Park to strengthen early snow removal response.
The district plans to encourage residents' voluntary participation in snow removal by distributing snow removal tools free of charge upon application at community centers and supporting equipment and materials to related organizations such as bus companies.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “We will do our best to protect residents' safety and minimize inconvenience through meticulous preparation and rapid snow removal work this winter,” and added, “For effective snow removal, we ask for the active participation of residents in clearing snow in front of their homes and stores.”
