Gyeonggi-do Launches 'Zero-Me Movement' to Reduce Single-Use Products

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will carry out the eco-friendly consumption practice campaign 'Zero-Me,' aimed at eliminating single-use plastics and other disposable items, until the end of the year.

On the 22nd, Gyeonggi Province announced that starting from Suwon, Yongin, Bucheon, and Goyang, it will continue promotional activities to reduce the use of disposable products by visiting multi-use locations, schools, and institutions throughout the province until the end of the year, encouraging the use of shopping bags and personal cups.

The Zero-Me campaign signifies "Starting to reduce (Zero) disposable product use from Me (Myself)."

The province plans to conduct this campaign annually and continuously, not just as a one-time event, to expand it into a nationwide practice movement.

This year, 100 members of the 'Gyeonggi Province Consumer Safety Guardians' will participate in the on-site promotional activities.

Since 2019, the province has been selecting Consumer Safety Guardians annually to create a safe consumption environment led by ordinary residents.

These Consumer Safety Guardians will carry out various activities across the province until the end of the year, including ▲public promotions using promotional sashes ▲signature campaigns to encourage reducing disposable product use ▲distribution of promotional materials.

Kim Ji-ye, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Fair Trade Bureau, said, "If consumers reduce their use of disposable products, we can create a clean and beautiful Earth where everyone lives happily together," and urged, "Please actively participate in the Zero-Me campaign by practicing the use of shopping bags and personal cups."
