Gold Numbers are numbers with specific patterns such as 1111, 2200, 3000, numbers identical to the area code (1234-1234, 2902-2902), or numbers with particular meanings (1004, 7942). There are nine types of Gold Numbers available for application this time.
Gold Numbers are popular among customers because they are easy to remember and have special meanings. In the first half Gold Number lottery held in May this year, the most popular type was the AAAA type, with a competition rate of 485.6 to 1.
Customers who want Gold Numbers can apply from November 22 to December 6 at SK Telecom’s official certified agencies and the T Direct Shop.
Each person can apply for up to three Gold Numbers. Customers of SK Telecom, other telecom carriers, and MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) users can apply under the same conditions.
The results of the Gold Number lottery can be checked on December 9 at SK Telecom’s official certified agencies and the T Direct Shop. Winning customers will be individually notified of their winning status via text message, and they can register and use the winning numbers between December 10 and December 31.
Separately, MVNO subscribers can also apply for a separate Gold Number lottery through their respective MVNO operators.
Gold Numbers cannot be transferred to others, and customers who are already using a Gold Number or have acquired a Gold Number within the past year are not eligible to apply.
The Gold Number lottery is conducted by a random drawing method under the supervision of the Preferred Number Lottery Committee, which consists of government agencies such as the Ministry of Science and ICT and KTOA, as well as related organizations. The Gold Number lottery event is held twice a year in accordance with government policies.
