[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Doosan Bobcat announced on the 22nd that it won two awards in the vehicle intelligence and transportation, and smart city categories at the CES 2022 Innovation Awards, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, for the world's first fully electric construction equipment.

The fully electric compact track loader T7X in the construction equipment category is an eco-friendly product that maximizes energy efficiency and significantly reduces noise and vibration by removing the hydraulic system and electrifying all driving components, unlike existing electric heavy equipment that only converts internal combustion engines such as engines to electric. It is the first in the construction machinery industry to replace not only internal combustion engines such as diesel but also hydraulic systems with batteries, earning recognition for its technology at the CES Innovation Awards.

Doosan Bobcat continues to develop various future technologies including electrification. A representative example is the 'Max Control' launched in 2019. This is a remote control technology using a smartphone. It allows remote operation with secured visibility and safety in narrow spaces or rough terrain. The company explained that it plans to expand the range of services in the future with obstacle avoidance and semi-autonomous driving.

In addition, Doosan Bobcat operates a customized customer support program that allows users to continuously add product options via wireless connection according to their needs. To develop autonomous driving solutions, it also signed a business agreement earlier this year with the U.S. radar sensor company 'Einstein'.

A Doosan Bobcat official said, "The T7X is a significant product for the industry as it has upgraded existing electric construction equipment by successfully electrifying all parts," adding, "As autonomous driving and electrification trends rapidly spread from automobiles to construction and small equipment markets, we plan to accelerate technological innovation going forward."
