Next Year Samsung Smartphones Flood the Market... 'Galaxy A73' Rendering Revealed Rendering images of the 'Galaxy A73' model released by the Dutch IT magazine LetsGoDigital

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] As Samsung Electronics is expected to ship more than 300 million smartphones next year, a rendering image of the mid-range model 'Galaxy A73' has been revealed.

Dutch IT specialist LetsGoDigital on the 18th (local time) stated, "The A73 is scheduled for release in the second quarter of next year and will be a model supporting only 5G," and released a rendering image based on leaked specifications.

The A73 is presumed to be a more advanced version in terms of functionality despite having a design very similar to the previous model. It is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution. The refresh rate is expected to be upgraded to 120Hz. The fingerprint sensor will be placed under the display. It will have a plastic housing with IP67 certification, providing dust and water resistance.

The camera is likely to be a punch-hole camera. LetsGoDigital said, "There is a high possibility that a punch-hole selfie camera will be mounted in the center," adding, "It is still unknown whether Samsung will choose a 32MP front camera or a 12MP front camera like the 'Galaxy S21 FE'.

The SIM card slot is expected to be located at the bottom of the device, unlike the 'Galaxy A72'. Unlike the premium S series, a microSD memory card can also be installed. The USB will be Type-C, and a microphone and speaker will also be included. The volume and power buttons will be placed on the right side of the device.

Regarding the chipset, it will be the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G used in the 'Galaxy A52', with options for 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage combinations.

Meanwhile, IT specialist GizChina has predicted that Samsung Electronics will ship more than 330 million smartphones in 2022. If so, 2022 will be the first year since 2017 that Samsung ships more than 300 million smartphones in a single year.

GizChina, citing network sources, said, "Samsung plans to increase smartphone shipments next year despite parts shortages," and noted, "For lower-priced product lines below the (Galaxy S and Z series), 176 million units are expected to be shipped, with a target production volume of 91 million units for mid-range models."
