[Asia Economy Reporter Ji Yeon-jin] Samyoung S&C recorded a limit-up after news broke on the 17th that it had developed the world's first temperature and humidity sensor for hydrogen fuel cells.

On the morning of the same day, Samyoung S&C was trading at 15,600 KRW, up 30% (3,600 KRW) from the previous day on the KOSDAQ market. The company is an environmental sensor specialist primarily manufacturing temperature, humidity, and dust sensors, and it appears to be experiencing a surge following the announcement the day before that it had developed a temperature and humidity sensor for hydrogen fuel cells.

The previous day, Samyoung S&C announced that it had developed a sensor to control the temperature and humidity of the recirculation device included in hydrogen fuel cell systems. The temperature and humidity sensor is a new component that can improve the efficiency of hydrogen fuel cells.

Hydrogen fuel cells generate electricity through oxidation and reduction reactions of hydrogen and oxygen, producing water along with electricity in the process. Hydrogen fuel cells are equipped with a recirculation device to reuse unreacted hydrogen passing through the fuel cell to generate energy again without waste. Samyoung S&C's temperature and humidity sensor is installed in this recirculation device. Controlling the temperature and humidity of the hydrogen gas recirculation device can achieve more than a 10% improvement in energy efficiency.
