Seoul City Opens Public Recruitment for 'Construction Technology Deliberation Committee' Members... Applications Accepted Until Next Month 17

Announcement for Recruitment of the 17th Seoul Construction Technology Review Committee to be Reorganized in March Next Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is publicly recruiting members of the 17th Seoul Construction Technology Deliberation Committee, which will be newly formed with 230 members in March next year, until the 17th of next month.

The Seoul Construction Technology Deliberation Committee reviews the feasibility of various construction project designs, the safety of structures, and the appropriateness of construction execution for projects carried out by Seoul city, its affiliated organizations, and autonomous districts, aiming to improve the design and construction standards of construction works.

The term of the newly appointed committee members will be two years, from March 1, next year to February 29, 2024, with a total of 230 members. Seoul will appoint 228 members excluding the ex officio chairman and vice-chairman.

The ex officio chairman will be the Deputy Mayor for Administration 2, and the vice-chairman will be the Director of Technical Review. The appointed members, excluding ex officio members, will consist of experts from 20 specialized fields.

Among the 228 appointed members, about 30-35% of the existing members will be reappointed to maintain a balance between reappointed and new members and to ensure continuity of the committee, while the remaining 65-70% will be newly appointed.

Seoul plans to expand opportunities for experts from various fields to participate by publicly recruiting new candidates through the internet and other means. Applications can be submitted via email until December 17. Eligibility includes assistant professors or higher at universities, research fellows or higher at research institutions, certified professional engineers, architects, and others.

Seoul will widely receive expert recommendations from various technical associations, academic societies, universities, research institutes, and public institutions, and after three rounds of fair selection committee reviews, new members will be appointed. During the selection committee review, experts from each specialized field will be evenly distributed among professors, researchers, public enterprises, construction companies, and design service firms.
