Suncheon City, 21st Suncheon Nam Seung-ryong Marathon Untact Opening

Marathon to Be Held Online Until the 24th of Next Month

Suncheon City, 21st Suncheon Nam Seung-ryong Marathon Untact Opening

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 16th that the "21st Suncheon Nam Seung-ryong Marathon" was held in a non-face-to-face format at Suncheon Palma Sports Complex on the 13th.

The opening ceremony was held with about 50 attendees, including Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon, National Assembly member So Byung-chul, Chairman Heo Yu-in of the Suncheon City Council, Chairman Lee Sang-dae of the Suncheon Sports Council, and former Nam Seung-ryong Marathon Organizing Committee Chairpersons.

The main guests paid tribute at the memorial tower of the late Mr. Nam Seung-ryong and held a race as the opening performance.

This marathon allowed participants to choose one of the half marathon, 10km, or 5km races and run at their preferred time and place in a non-face-to-face format.

Participants could run on their own courses or various recommended courses by the event.

Those who completed the course measured their records using a running app that tracks movement routes and then posted their records and participation verification photos on the event website.

The event period was originally until the 28th of this month but has been extended until the 24th of next month, and participants can register through the event website until the 20th of next month.

Mayor Heo Seok said, "Although it is regrettable that the event was inevitably held in a non-face-to-face format, I hope this new approach will serve as an opportunity to widely promote the late Mr. Nam Seung-ryong," adding, "We will do our best to establish the Nam Seung-ryong Marathon as an event that everyone can enjoy together and to grow it into an international competition."
