[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] The city of Naju, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 15th that it held the opening ceremony of the Job Comprehensive Support Center located in Ichang-dong and will begin integrated job-related services such as employment, job placement, and vocational training through the concentration of related organizations.
The center has a total floor area of 2,211㎡ (approximately 668 pyeong) and is a five-story building above ground. A total project cost of 7.1 billion KRW was invested, with construction starting in March 2017 and completion in June of this year.
It integrates and operates three job-related institutions that were previously operated separately: Naju City Job Support Center, Women’s New Work Center (Ministry of Gender Equality and Family), and Naju Employment Welfare Center (Ministry of Employment and Labor).
Through this, it is expected to become a job control tower where various job support services can be received in one place, from employment counseling including guidance on the National Employment Support System to job application, employment insurance, and labor standards consultation.
The first floor of the center houses the Employment Welfare Center and job counseling spaces, the second floor includes the Job Support Center, Women’s New Work Center, and a medium conference room.
The third floor consists of a computer training room and two lecture rooms; the fourth floor includes an electrical training room, cooking room, and male and female lounges; the fifth floor is composed of a large conference room and two lecture rooms, serving as an education space for job seekers.
The Job Support Center plays a bridging role connecting companies and job seekers by facilitating employment placement, vocational counseling, and hosting job matching days through the establishment of a network system with related organizations.
The Employment Welfare Center handles tasks related to the National Employment Support System for vulnerable employment groups implemented in January, livelihood support (job-seeking allowance), customized employment support, and employment-welfare linkage services.
The Women’s New Work Center is responsible for vocational counseling, job placement, vocational education, employment and start-up support, and follow-up management for women with career interruptions.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Kang In-gyu, City Council Chairman Kim Young-deok, Vice Chairman Lee Kwang-seok, city council members, Director Joo Dong-sik of the Green Energy Research Institute, Vice President Lee Joo-hee of Dongshin University, as well as local institution and social organization heads, and 99 residents.
The center plans to begin full-scale employment and job services from the 22nd, when the move-in of the three institutions is completed.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “The Job Comprehensive Center will integrate and operate three institutions in one place to broadly support citizens with all job services including employment, welfare, job information provision, and employment counseling in a one-stop manner. We will spare no support to ensure the center becomes a solid job hub space that builds Naju-type jobs centered on the energy new industry, which is a future growth engine.”
