KB Kookmin Bank Provides Support Funds and Special Lectures for Independent Living of Protection-Ended Children

Providing Self-Reliance Support Funds to 100 Selected Children Aging Out of Care

KB Kookmin Bank Provides Support Funds and Special Lectures for Independent Living of Protection-Ended Children

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi]KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 15th that it will implement a program to support protection-terminated children (youth preparing for independence) to live stably and grow.

Protection-terminated children refer to youths who leave welfare facilities and enter society upon turning 18. Every year, about 2,500 youths leave facilities as their protection period ends, and approximately 36% of these youths become basic livelihood security recipients within five years, facing economic difficulties.

KB Kookmin Bank plans to select 100 protection-terminated children to provide independence support funds for stable living and conduct special lectures on economics, real estate, law, and career necessary for daily life. A community will be formed centered on the selected students to share policies, benefits, and employment information related to protection-terminated children, and mentors will be assigned to provide psychological counseling and advice.

Additionally, using the programs ‘Youth Mentor KB!’ and ‘Visiting Coding Education,’ coding instructor courses will be supported for protection-terminated children who wish to participate. Graduates will be offered jobs to teach coding directly to children in welfare facilities. The support targets are those who are about to be protection-terminated or already protection-terminated children, and applications can be submitted through the Sapiens 4.0 website until the 24th.

A KB Kookmin Bank official said, “We hope this program will greatly help protection-terminated children prepare for independence,” and added, “We will provide wholehearted support so that protection-terminated children can settle stably as members of society.”
