[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Kim Cheoncheon, a third-year student in the Department of Special Education at Chosun University College of Education, achieved a remarkable feat by winning three gold medals at the 41st National Disabled Sports Festival.

According to Chosun University on the 9th, the event, held over six days from the 20th to the 25th, was hosted by the Korea Paralympic Committee and organized by Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education, and Gyeongsangbuk-do Disabled Sports Association. The purpose was to lead all citizens to a stage of peace and harmony through sports.

At the competition, which featured 28 events including goalball, gateball, basketball, billiards, dance sports, and lawn bowls, athlete Kim Cheoncheon, despite severe visual impairment, attracted attention by winning three medals: a gold in javelin throw, a silver in discus throw, and a bronze in shot put.

Kim Cheoncheon said, "Although I was not able to break my personal records during practice, I am very happy with the excellent result of winning three medals. I plan to continue striving to achieve my target records and challenge myself to participate in the Olympics, while also pursuing my dream of becoming an outstanding special education teacher."

Jung Eun-hee, director of the Disabled Student Support Center, said, "Kim Cheoncheon is a beautiful young person who has developed self-directed learning habits while living as an athlete in the sports association, showing positivity and strong responsibility. I hope this result will be remembered as a valuable experience for Kim and serve as a catalyst for moving forward."

Meanwhile, the Disabled Student Support Center has been operating a 'Disabled New Sports Class' every Thursday since September in collaboration with the Gwangju Metropolitan City Disabled Sports Association to support healthy university life and career exploration for disabled students, receiving positive responses from both disabled students and helper students.
