Muan-gun Hyeonggyeong-myeon Saemaeul Women's Association Holds Rally Opposing Gwangju Military Airport Relocation

[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] The Saemaeul Women's Association of Hyeonggyeong-myeon, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do recently held a resolution rally at the Cultural Welfare Center to firmly oppose the relocation of the Gwangju Combat Airfield to Muan.

This resolution was made by the Saemaeul Women's Association of Hyeonggyeong-myeon in response to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's confirmation and announcement of the 6th Comprehensive Airport Development Plan, which includes a plan to promote the relocation of Gwangju Civil Airport in conjunction with the relocation of the military airport.

The 45 women members who participated in the resolution rally voiced in unison, "It is a unilateral act for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to confirm and announce that the military airport relocation issue, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of National Defense, will be promoted in conjunction with the civil airport."

Park Chang-sim, the president of the Women's Association, asserted, "The relocation project of the Gwangju Combat Airfield, which infringes on the survival rights and pursuit of happiness of Muan residents and stirs up regional conflicts, causing only confusion, must be immediately stopped."
