[Asia Economy Reporter Ji Yeon-jin] As the candidate lineup for the next year's presidential election has been finalized, stocks related to each party's candidates are once again surging. In particular, stocks related to Yoon Seok-ryeol, the former Prosecutor General confirmed as the People Power Party's presidential candidate on the 5th, are showing a sharp rise.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 8th, Shinwon Comprehensive Development has been trading at 12,100 KRW on the KOSDAQ market since 9:54 a.m., up 29.83% compared to the previous day. This company is a comprehensive construction firm covering private apartment projects as well as architecture, housing, and civil engineering sectors. Both ruling and opposition parties have proposed expanding housing supply as part of their real estate pledges, and the fact that Chairman Woo Jin-ho and outside director Jang Yong-seok of this company are alumni of Seoul National University, like candidate Yoon, has highlighted it as a related stock, leading to the sharp rise in its share price.
Candidate Yoon pledged to supply more than 1.3 million housing units in the metropolitan area and a total of over 2.5 million units nationwide during his five-year presidential term. He also stated that he would improve systems to facilitate smooth reconstruction and redevelopment.
On the same day, Jeil Technos, a building materials manufacturer, was trading at 7,130 KRW, up 29.87% from the previous trading day. This company was also classified as a related stock because outside director Park Jeong-sik is a university alumnus of candidate Yoon.
