The Pony Jung Foundation announced on the 7th that the recipients of the 2nd 'Pony Jung Young Leader Award' are volleyball player Kim Yeon-koung and Lee Seung-geun, CEO of Viva Republica Co., Ltd., who founded Toss.
At the award ceremony held on the afternoon of the 5th at Pony Jung Hall in I'Park Tower, Samseong-dong, Seoul, Jung Mong-gyu, founder of the Pony Jung Foundation and chairman of HDC Group, said, "It is very meaningful to select Kim Yeon-koung, a world-class volleyball player who has demonstrated new leadership, and Lee Seung-geun, who pioneered the fintech sector and brought innovation to the entire financial industry, as awardees."
The ceremony was held with the attendance of the awardee Lee Seung-geun, Jung Mong-gyu, chairman of HDC Group, and other foundation board members. Kim Yeon-koung was unable to attend the ceremony as she had departed to return to the Chinese league.
CEO Lee Seung-geun said, "It is a great honor to receive an award that embodies the will of the late Honorary Chairman Jung Se-young, who opened new paths with challenge, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit," adding, "I hope Korea becomes a paradise for entrepreneurs, and I will continue innovation and challenge through Toss."
Kim Yeon-koung expressed her thoughts, saying, "This award is even more meaningful and appreciated as it coincides with the Tokyo Olympics and my retirement from the national team," and added, "I will not be complacent with my current position and will show further development."
Meanwhile, the Pony Jung Young Leader Award is the '2nd Pony Jung Innovation Award' established last year to support young innovators. To continue the innovation and challenging spirit of the late Honorary Chairman Jung Se-young, founder of Hyundai Motor Company known as 'PONY 鄭 (Pony Jung)', and HDC Group (formerly Hyundai Development Company), two innovators under the age of 40 who have brought positive changes to society are selected and awarded a prize of 50 million KRW and a plaque.
