'Galaxy S22 Ultra' Real-Life Leak?… Built-in S Pen to Inherit 'GalNote' Baton?

'Galaxy S22 Ultra' Real-Life Leak?… Built-in S Pen to Inherit 'GalNote' Baton?

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Photos presumed to be of the actual device of Samsung Electronics' next-generation flagship smartphone, the 'Galaxy S22' series, specifically the top-tier 'Galaxy S22 Ultra' model, have been released. Notably, the device in the photos is shown with the 'S Pen' embedded, which is expected to raise interest among fans disappointed by the absence of the 'Galaxy Note' this year.

On the 5th (local time), IT specialist media FrontPageTech released several photos presumed to be of the actual S22 Ultra. The device in the photos has stickers indicating confidentiality such as prohibition of photography, sales, and leaks.

The most striking feature in the newly released photos is that the device not only supports the S Pen but also includes a slot (storage space) on the front bottom left side to store the S Pen inside the device. This year, no new model of the Note series was released, causing many consumers to express regret. In this situation, if the S22 Ultra model is launched actively adopting the characteristics of the Note series, it is expected to effectively serve as a successor to the Note series.

The design of the S22 Ultra resembles the Galaxy Note series more than the Galaxy S series, especially closely resembling the 'Galaxy Note10' released in 2019. However, unlike the Note10, the rear panel is finished with a matte texture, and the rear cameras are not arranged in a single module but placed individually. The reason for the vertically individual arrangement of the cameras is said to be weight reduction. This choice aims to make the device lighter than its predecessor, the 'Galaxy S21 Ultra (228g)', despite the addition of the S Pen and S Pen slot.

The rear camera of the S22 Ultra is expected to include a 108-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and two 10-megapixel telephoto cameras with 3x to 10x zoom capabilities. Additionally, the basic S22 model and the Plus model are expected to be equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera.

A specific expected release schedule has also been revealed. John Prosser, a well-known IT tipster who released the photos, predicted that the S22 series will begin pre-orders on February 8 next year and be released on the 18th of the same month.

The S22 series is expected to be offered in three models?basic, Plus, and Ultra?similar to its predecessor. The application processor (AP) will be equipped with either Samsung's Exynos 2200 or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 898 chipset. All three models will feature AMOLED displays supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, maintaining a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Furthermore, the S22 is expected to have a 6.1-inch screen, the S22 Plus a 6.5-inch screen, and the S22 Ultra a 6.8-inch screen.
