[Asia Economy, reporter Lim Joohyeong] An update has been shared regarding a widely discussed accident in which a child collided with a vehicle in a school zone, but the child's parents stated they did not wish for the driver to be punished. It was reported that at the time of the accident, the seven-year-old child even apologized to the driver, saying, "Say you're sorry."
On October 29, a video titled "This is the first time I've seen a case like this related to the Minshik Law - It's been resolved" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Han Moonchul TV,' run by attorney Han Moonchul.
In the video, attorney Han explained, "The father of the child could have persistently requested a medical certificate, but he did not submit one because he did not want the taxi driver to be punished. The police closed the case as it was." He added, "The taxi driver provided compensation and follow-up medical expenses to the victim's side through insurance, but the amount was so small that it did not even cause an increase in the insurance premium."
He continued, "Both parties are truly good people," and added, "They both deserve to be praised."
The accident occurred at around 5 p.m. on October 18 on a school zone road in Ulsan Metropolitan City. At the time, one of two children suddenly ran onto a crosswalk and collided with a taxi that was driving slowly nearby.
The seven-year-old younger sibling told his brother, "Tell him you're sorry." The taxi driver got out of the car, comforted the injured child, and said, "Stay still. Call your mother."

Afterwards, the parents reportedly informed attorney Han about the accident.
At the time, the parents said, "Our child was not seriously injured. Although there was some bleeding from the nose at the time of the accident, we were told by the doctor that, due to the recent dry weather, even a slight impact to the head or face can cause a nosebleed." They added, "Even after watching the footage, it seems our child was at fault. As long as the insurance claim and civil settlement are handled smoothly, we hope the taxi driver does not suffer any major consequences."
Mr. Han told the parents, "I've uploaded over 13,000 videos to YouTube so far, but I've never seen people like you. The younger sibling is admirable, and the parents are truly amazing," adding, "If you do not submit a medical certificate, the taxi driver will be cleared without any punishment."
In the end, the parents of the siblings decided not to submit a medical certificate.
Meanwhile, viewers who watched the video left comments such as, "You can tell what the family atmosphere and level of education are like without even seeing them. The children are truly mature," "The parents are amazing, the child is amazing, and the taxi driver's honest response is also praiseworthy," and "This is truly a touching story," showering the family and the driver with praise.
