Jeonnam Police Utilize Backside of Road Signs to Install 'Drone No-Fly Zone' Markers

Drone Flight Advisory: Confirm Air Traffic Control Zone and No-Fly Zones Before Flying

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 28th that, in collaboration with related organizations such as Jeollanam-do and the National Intelligence Service, they installed 'Drone No-Fly Zone' signs using the unused backsides of road signs around Muan Airport.

This was installed to prevent illegal drone flights by travelers around the airport, which is a no-fly zone, due to the popularization of drones. By installing the signs on the backsides of existing signs, it achieved dual effects of budget savings and improved aesthetics of the sign backsides.

Drone pilots flying within the control zone (a radius of 9.3 km around the airport) or no-fly zones (such as around nuclear power plants) are subject to fines of up to 2 million KRW under the Aviation Safety Act.

A Jeonnam police official urged, “As cases of enforcement due to drone flights in no-fly zones, especially within airport control zones, are increasing, please check whether the area is flyable using smartphone apps such as Ready to Fly before flying.”
