[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] The funeral ceremony for the late former President Roh Tae-woo is expected to be held on the morning of the 30th at the Peace Plaza within Olympic Park in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
According to government officials on the 28th, the Peace Plaza is highly likely to be the venue for former President Roh's funeral. Olympic Park holds a deep connection with him, as he served as the first Minister of Sports, the chairman of the organizing committee for the 1988 Seoul Olympics, and the president of the Korean Sports Council, playing a significant role in preparing for and successfully hosting the Olympic Games.
Considering the COVID-19 situation, a plan is being reviewed to limit attendance to about 50 people, including family members. The funeral procedures for former President Roh are being conducted as a five-day state funeral. His remains have been temporarily placed and are expected to be interred at the Unification Hill in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
