[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Yoon Hojung, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 28th that holding a state funeral for the late former President Roh Tae-woo is a "well-made decision," but emphasized that "there can be no state funeral for former President Chun Doo-hwan."

On the same day, Yoon visited the funeral hall at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where the late former President Roh's wake was held, and after paying his respects, he told reporters, "I believe this way of settling history will be helpful."

He said, "One of the reasons former President Roh has not been fully evaluated is because, despite repeated apologies and reflections, there is still someone who has not yet apologized," expressing regret. This was a remark aimed at former President Chun.

Yoon emphasized, "I hope that a president who disrupts the constitutional order and must atone to the people until his death will never appear again."

Regarding opposition from lawmakers in the Gwangju region within the party against the decision for a state funeral, he said, "I am deeply aware with a heavy heart," and added, "That is why I think the evaluation and forgiveness of former President Roh are not yet complete. Everything is regrettable."

On the issue of Party Leader Song Young-gil opposing a state funeral for former President Chun and mentioning legal amendments, Yoon raised his voice, saying, "If necessary, we will amend the law," and "Even without legal amendments, there can be no state funeral for former President Chun."
