[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Park Won-seo, a member of the Construction and Finance Committee of Gangdong-gu Council (Gangil-dong, Godeok 1·2-dong), received a letter of appreciation from the Chief of Gangdong Police Station on the 25th.
Councilor Park Won-seo is actively engaged in legislative activities to establish related ordinances and allocate budgets for crime prevention, aiming to prevent residents from falling victim to the rapidly increasing voice phishing scams for the first time in a basic council, so that residents can live safely.
In particular, the ordinance passed at the 286th extraordinary session of Gangdong-gu Council includes provisions on promoting and cooperating with policies to prevent telecommunication financial fraud, providing guidance and publicity for damage prevention, establishing an education system and training personnel, managing vulnerable groups, and budget support.
With the enactment of this ordinance, Gangdong-gu Council, Gangdong-gu Office, and Gangdong Police Station have agreed to actively cooperate to prevent voice phishing, and it is being evaluated as a pilot case that can serve as a cooperation model among public institutions for crime prevention and blocking.
Councilor Park Won-seo emphasized, "The damage to citizens caused by voice phishing crimes is severe," and stated, "Public institutions must take active administrative measures and provide substantial budget support to prevent and block these crimes."
He also said, "While swift arrest by judicial authorities is necessary for financial fraud crimes, prevention through prior education for vulnerable groups such as the elderly is also urgently needed," and added, "We will work with investigative agencies to establish a public institution cooperation model to block crimes affecting people's livelihoods."
Following the passage of this ordinance, interest is gradually increasing, with many inquiries coming from police stations in other regions.
