Haenam-gun to Develop European Village Theme Park in Solar City Enterprise City

Investment Agreement with The Good Co., Ltd. Operating Gapyeong Swiss Village to Develop European-Style Complex Resort Facility

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myung Hyun-kwan) is embarking on creating the nation's top European-style tourist city, attracting 5 million visitors annually.

According to the county on the 28th, The It's Good Co., Ltd., which has been operating the Swiss-themed village Edelweiss in Gapyeong since 2014, plans to develop a complex resort facility covering 495,000㎡ (150,000 pyeong) including country houses, hotels, and shopping malls in the Solarsido Enterprise City area of Guseong-ri, Sanim-myeon, Haenam-gun.

The European village theme park will feature hotel-style townhouses, Dutch classical townhouses, luxury country houses in a golf course and canal village, and shopping complex buildings.

Since Soho is located near Yeongam Lake and Geumho Lake, and the large-scale hilly agricultural area resembles the terrain of the Netherlands, the creation of a Dutch-themed village is being seriously considered.

Haenam-gun has actively promoted the revitalization of the enterprise city through investment attraction tailored to the characteristics of the Haenam area, resulting in an investment agreement with The It's Good after more than a year of negotiations.

Governor Myung Hyun-kwan said, "It is very encouraging that investment attraction fitting the urban vision has been confirmed for Solarsido Enterprise City, which is emerging as a core axis of the government’s New Deal and Jeonnam Blue Economy," adding, "We will devote all efforts of the county government to support the rapid realization of investment, expecting not only population inflow effects through large-scale investment attraction but also significant revitalization of the local economy and tourism."

In this regard, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, Southwest Coast Enterprise City Co., Ltd., and The It's Good Co., Ltd. will hold an investment agreement ceremony on the 29th for the creation of the European village theme park.

Haenam-gun and Jeollanam-do will ensure smooth administrative support for the creation of the European village, while Southwest Coast Enterprise City Co., Ltd. will provide the site and actively cooperate in developing infrastructure.

The ceremony is expected to be attended by Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, Myung Hyun-kwan, Governor of Haenam-gun, Chae Jeong-seop, CEO of Southwest Coast Enterprise City Co., Ltd., and Kim Tae-hyung, CEO of The It's Good Co., Ltd.

Solarsido Enterprise City has gained momentum with the completion of a 1.59 million㎡ (480,000 pyeong) renewable energy industrial complex centered on the Solarsido solar power plant with a capacity of 98MW at the end of last year, followed by the opening of Solarsido Country Club on the 16th.

The creation of the European village theme park is expected to become a core hub of the southwestern tourism belt of Jeonnam by generating large-scale employment, inducing production, attracting population, and revitalizing tourism.

Governor Myung Hyun-kwan said, "This investment attraction for the European village theme park is expected to be a decisive turning point for the activation of Solarsido Enterprise City," adding, "We will concentrate all capabilities in cooperation with related organizations to establish it as a landmark of southwestern tourism."
