[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Seobu Fire Station (Chief Yang Young-gyu) won the gold prize in the final evaluation of the public officials' research group achievements.
The 2021 Gwangju Metropolitan City Public Officials Research Group consisted of 15 teams participating with tasks related to major issues and policies. After a preliminary round selecting 10 teams, the final rankings from grand prize to bronze prize were determined through expert evaluation and citizen assessment.
The Seobu Fire Station research group, under the team name "Health Guardians," conducted a study titled "Psychoanalysis and Management Measures for Firefighters during the COVID-19 Period," investigating the mental health status of firefighters who experienced various traumatic events during the COVID-19 period, aiming to propose mental health treatment methods and policy recommendations.
Yang Young-gyu, Chief of Seobu Fire Station, stated, "We will actively utilize the research results to promote various mental and physical health programs tailored to the individual tendencies and preferences of firefighters, doing our best to reduce firefighters' post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)."
