T Map Mobility Signs MOU with Seoul City
Pilot Service Starting Year-End in Gangnam and Yeouido

T map Mobility announced on the 28th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Metropolitan Government for the "Seoul Digital Road Infrastructure Data Pilot Service Project." [Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Starting as early as the end of this year, traffic signal information in Seoul areas such as Gangnam, Yeouido, and Sangam will be available to check through 'T map (Tmap)'.

T map Mobility announced on the 28th that it has signed a business agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Government for the 'Seoul Digital Road Infrastructure Data Pilot Service Project.'

Through this agreement, Seoul will provide real-time traffic information collected via C-ITS (Next-Generation Intelligent Transportation System) to T map Mobility. The information provided by Seoul includes ▲traffic signal information ▲road hazard information (pedestrians, potholes, etc.) ▲construction information.

T map Mobility will process this data to provide more advanced information through T map, such as ▲pedestrian signal guidance along driving routes ▲unexpected situations ahead.

Examples of C-ITS Services

T map Mobility will also provide Seoul with anonymized time-based departure-arrival and intersection traffic data. The city plans to analyze this data to improve the urban traffic environment.

The pilot service will begin within this year at a total of 623 locations on 22 roads (151.0 km) where central bus-only lanes operate, including the downtown area inside the Four Major Gates, Yeouido, Gangnam, and Sangam. The service is scheduled to expand to the entire Seoul area by March next year and provide official service.

Lee Jae-hwan, Head of Strategy Group at T map Mobility, said, "We expect to enhance drivers' convenience through the next-generation intelligent transportation system while also contributing to accident prevention," adding, "We will cooperate with various organizations and local governments to expand the service nationwide."

Meanwhile, Seoul conducted a public contest for navigation technology companies in March for this pilot service and selected T map Mobility and Kakao Mobility as pilot operators.
